Last year I decided to simplify my life and vowed to only spend money on things that would truly increase the value of my time on this planet. We invested in Alicia Wiley Photography and also purchased a large canvas to showcase our love. But something was missing and I spent six months looking for the perfect compliment to this gorgeous piece of art hanging in our living room. Then I found Designs by Doree. Her work was exactly what I was looking for!
I love that she hand creates her pieces. I was surprised to hear that she sanded and stained each piece. She involved me in the process! Im a bit of a control freak (are you surprised? really?) and I liked that I could pick the color, the font and even the size! She was local to Bel Air, MD and I was able to pick it up..that's right no waiting (impatiently) for the mailman!
As a photographer I love that I was able to find a piece of art that I could add to our home that speaks to who we are and also could be used to tell our story. This little vintage wooden plaque makes me pause every time I look at it. It takes me back to 2007 when we got married. I never could have imagined we would be here in 2017. A family of four. A home filled with love. And this is why I need you to buy this!!! Because in everyday life we get caught up in making lunches, doing the laundry, walking the dog, crying in the bathroom when we can't get our kids to leave us alone long enough to get anything done(come on now..I can't be the only one who does this!) In the midst of our home spinning at its axis (like yes daily!) I catch a glimpse of this wall and I pause, take a breath and realize how lucky I am to have this life.
It pulls together our whole story. From the day I took on a married name, leaving the safety of my childhood name, to the magical day of our wedding, and to where we are now. I encourage all of my clients to invest in this piece of art to go along with the moments I have captured for you.
